¡Pura Vida!
6/29/08 Conversa has asked me to teach a short secondary ESL course for teens wanting to learn English but lacking the resources to pay for classes. Because of the predominantly English tourist economy here, knowing English gives bilingual Costa Rican workers advantages over monolingual peers. This is a lesson many monolingual Americans could learn as well.
7/11/08 What does an ESL teacher do during summer break? Teach more ESL courses during the summer! Today I taught my first free course as a volunteer at the local libary to local teens wanting to learn English. I will be writing much more about this over the coming weeks.
8/10/08 I have been working with the students on conversational English for several weeks. I am trying to coordinate a visit with the Rotary Club in San Jose.
